December 29, 2009
I had another appointment today. No news! The internal sonogram showed that everything is normal and good. I saw the midwife at the office, which was nice because there was no wait! The heart rate was in the 150's and I got my lovely shot. I go back on January 12 for the big sonogram. Yea!

Shots, shots, and more shots!
I had my first shot appointment today. The doctor was called to the hospital with all kinds of deliveries, so the office was very quiet. Thanksfully I just had to see a nurse! The wait was minimal and the nurse was very nice. I guess the progesterone is very think so she had to use a huge needle - thank God she found a smaller needle to inject. Yea! Nick will learn how to inject this stuff soon so I don't have to go into the office.
Of course, this is the hormone responsible for the nausea - hopefully I can head it off with ginger ale. What we women have to do for our children - gesh!

December 14, 2009
I'm starting to hate these doctor's appointments. I scheduled my appointment today for 10:15 a.m. thinking earlier is better. Well it was a little better, I guess! I took my book club book with me to read. I had plenty of time to read. I got called to go back around 11:15 - the nurse took my blood pressure and then I sat and waited for about 30 minutes before seeing the doctor. He asked if I had felt the baby move, which I haven't. No big deal because it's a little early for that. I got up on the table and he found the baby's heartbeat - 152 beats per minute. He asked if I had already had the sonogram to check my cervix, but I had not. He left and said a nurse would be right in.
About 5 mintues later a nurse showed up asking me about the progestrone shots, which the doctor had forgot to mention this time. He told me about the weekly shots at my first appointment, but hadn't mentioned it since. I'm not sure why, but only two pharmacies in the area carry this prescription and it was best to come into the office to get the shots injected because it can be a little tricky.
Five minutes afer this nurse left, another came to get me for the songram. Being an internal sonogram, I had strip from the waist down. Really, it wasn't too bad, but you don't get to see much of the baby with this type of sonogram. After doing the internal, she asked if I wanted to see better pictures of the baby and did the tummy sonogram. Everything measured fine, so I do not have to go back for another sonogram for two weeks.

I left the doctor's office, went to the pharmacy, got the prescription, grabbed lunch and headed back to school. I called the doctor's office to schedule my first shot appointment, which luckily will be with a nurse. I go tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. and have to go every week after that until 36 weeks. Yipee! Hopefully in later December or January, Nick will go with me to an appointment and learn how to do it so I don't have to go to the office every week.
My next appointment is December 29 - another internal sonogram and more shots! Two weeks after that will be the big "boy or girl" sonogram, so stay tuned for more information!!

Sofa & Loveseat Shopping

We've thought about getting a new sofa & loveseat for our living room for months, but it was time to start looking. We knew we wanted leather - it's easy to keep clean with kids and cats. After reclining in my parents furniture at Thanksgiving, we knew we liked that feature too. We look at the few furniture stores in Peoria and finished our shopping at Lay-Z-Boy. They were having a Thanksgiving sale and we got an extra 15% off by purchasing it Sunday. They didn't have the couch or loveseat in stock, but will get it around December 7, so we'll have it in time for Christmas. Our choices were poopy brown and black, so we went with black. It will match our area rug very nicely and looks very sharp. Our current couch and loveseat are moving downstairs and our downstairs furniture is probably going to be sold at the neighborhood spring garage sale or given to Goodwill. If Santa is good to us, we may be getting more furniture to finish out the room. We cleaned out the basement for me to have more room scrapbooking. We're going to put up a card table so I can have more than a 12x12 area to work. Yipee!!!

2nd Appointment - 11/12/09
The baby is measuring 11 weeks 6 days and had a strong heart rate of 179 beats per minute. My appointment was at 3:15 p.m. and I didn't see the doctor until 4:45. I had some questions, but forgot them in my anger. On the positive side, I did finish the new Nora Roberts book and am ready to move onto another good book.

1st Doctor Visit
Today I had my first of many doctor's appointments. I am now going to see Dr. Kindred, who Erika recommended. One of the good things about going to this doctor is that they do a sonogram to date the pregnancy. The baby measured 7 weeks, 3 days. The heart rate measured 149 beats per minute.
Hayley was due June 23 and surprised us May 25, 2006 - I got to the hospital fully dilated and didn't experience my water breaking or real labor. I went straight from triage to delivery. We got to the hospital at 7 a.m. and were in our room with Hayley by 9:30 a.m. They treated Hayley like a premie, which was good in some ways because they ran more tests and we knew she was 100% healthy.
Dr. Kindred is slightly concerned about me having a possible weak cervix, so he's going to monitor things to make sure everything is good and we get to full term this time around.
Now we wait - I'm sure the next 7 months will fly by. This time we're going to pack our hospital bag EARLY and throw in a disposal camera. This weekend we'll spend some time telling Hayley all about the new baby - I'm sure she'll be a great big sister!
